The Artist

Creating is not a passion for me; it is a need. My work explores themes of desperation, isolation, restriction, and the tension of existing within a body and world that are impossible to control. Through figurative oil painting, I aim to resist subtlety, making visible what is often invisible: chronic pain, loneliness, power, and autonomy that persists through confinement.

I create portraits and figurative nudes that exist at the intersection of realism and surrealism. The faces in my work are strangers, people who previously existed only within my mind. Through them, I seek to remind the viewer that consciousness, pain, longing, and loneliness are rarely solitary; our blights are not singular.

I am less interested in creating work meant to be endlessly reinterpreted than I am in confronting the viewer directly. I want the emotional reality of my work to feel unavoidable. My paintings draw from personal experience, particularly chronic illness, emotional isolation, and the need for autonomy, while I attempt to translate those experiences into something recognizable beyond myself.
